6:30:01 PM Gulledge Called the Public Hearing of Wednesday, December 17, 2008 to order. There were five (5) persons in attendance. Explained the purpose of the hearing is to discuss the Village of Maryville's 2008/2009 Tax Levy. Turned the hearing over to the Village Attorney to discuss.
6:30:28 PM Wigginton Explained the hearing is called pursuant to Notice and Statute. Stated notice has been published in a newspaper in the general circulation in Madison County in accordance with Statute not less than seven (7) days and not more than fourteen (14) days prior to the date of the hearing. Stated the Ordinance was the subject of a public meeting held December 10, 2008 and has been available for inspection by the general public. Stated the Levy for the fiscal year beginning May 1, 2008 through April 30, 2009 is detailed; however he read into the record the categories as follows: General Corporate - $430,000; Fire Protection - $361,000; Police Protection - $135,375; Street and Bridge - $180,500; Street Lighting - $60,250; Liability and Worker's Compensation Insurance - $140,000; Unemployment Insurance - $6,000; Annual Audit - $9,000; Public Comfort - $25,000; Working Cash Fund - $90,250; Federal Social Security - $150,000; Municipal Retirement - $125,000; Police Pension - $197,000; Fire Department Pension - $40,000. Commented in addition there is a special assessment for Special Service Area #3 in the amount of $19,821 and a couple of abatement ordinances, all of which are not subject to public hearing. Stated the calculated rate for the general tax levy is 1.08, based upon an estimated property valuation of $180, 500,000.
