Description Public Hearing - 2009 Tax Levy
Date 12/16/2009 Location Council Chamber
Time Speaker Note
6:45:12 PM Gulledge Called the Public Hearing of Wednesday, December 16, 2009 to order and explained the purpose is to discuss the 2009-2010 Tax Levy. There were eleven (11) people in attendance. Turned the hearing over to Attorney Wigginton to discuss.
6:45:52 PM Wigginton Explained briefly the purpose of the tax levy and read the totals of each category.
6:47:47 PM Bell Asked if the Unemployment Insurance section was read. Wigginton responded it is in Section 7 of the Ordinance and is $4,000.
6:48:06 PM Wigginton Continued to explain the levy is based upon an estimated assessed valuation of property. Stated the Village tries to estimate as closely as possible what the actual assessed valuation is. Explained this year is a difficult time for all municipalities because of the nature of assessments in the County, review of the assessments by the Township Assessors and adjustments that will be made at the County level.
6:48:44 PM Gulledge Opened the hearing for questions or comments. There were none.
6:49:03 PM Wigginton Explained they will also have a tax levy (not subject to the Truth in Taxation Acts because it is the same amount as last year) for Special Service Area #3 in the amount of $19,821. Stated the Village will also be passing a number of tax abatement ordinances that will abate taxes previously levied for the repayment of various municipal bond projects.
6:49:33 PM Gulledge Asked for further questions or comments. There were none. He closed the hearing.

Respectfully submitted,

Thelma Long, Village Clerk
