6:33:24 PM Gulledge Called the Public Hearing to order and explained the purpose of the hearing is for discussion, comments, or questions on the Village of Maryville's proposed 2003-2004 property tax levy . There were five persons in attendance. He turned the hearing over to Attorney Wigginton.
6:33:58 PM Wigginton Explained that the public hearing is pursuant to a notice published in a paper of general circulation and is pursuant to the Truth and Taxation Statute. He explained that the Village after a lot of work has determined that the proposed tax levy for the Village of Maryville should be as follows: General Fund amount levied is $237,500.00; Fire Protection Fund is 190,000.00; Police Protection Fund is $71,250.00; Street Lighting is $47,500.00; Street and Bridge Fund is $95,000.00; Liability Insurance is $70,000.00; Audit Fund is $5,575.00; Unemployment Insurance Fund is $4,500.00; Public Comfort Fund is $31,635.00; Working Cash Fund is $47,500.00; Social Security (FICA) Fund is $105,000.00; and, the IMRF is $112,000.00. The total proposed tax levy is $1,017,460.00. This represents a calculated rate of 1.0710 based upon an estimated 2003 Madison County property value of $95,000,000.00. He went on to say the rate could be lower depending on the actual Madison County Property Tax value of the Village of Maryville. He spoke briefly about the Special Service Areas 1 and 3, which also have taxes levied. Special Service Area 1 levy will be for $18,000.00 and the levy for Special Service Area 3 will be $19,821.00. He added that these amounts are the same as last year. At this time, he opened the hearing to the public for questions or comments. He turned the hearing back to Mayor Gulledge.
6:36:59 PM Gulledge Asked if anyone from the public had any questions or comments. There were no questions or comments. The hearing was closed.
