Village of Maryville, Illinois

Description Public Hearing - recodification
Date8/13/2003 Location Council Chamber
Time Speaker Note
6:30:47 PM Gulledge Called the Public Hearing to order, and explained that the purpose of the hearing was to discuss the adoption of the recodification of the Village Code of Ordinances. There were five trustees present along with Attorney Wigginton and Clerk Long. Police Chief Schardan, Building & Zoning Administrator/Fire Chief Flaugher, and one reporter were present also. He turned the hearing over to Attorney Wigginton.
6:31:30 PM Wigginton Said that the Village has been involved in this recodification process for some time. There has been one public meeting regarding the changes being made to the revised code of the Village of Maryville, including the Zoning Code. These changes have also been reviewed by the Planning Commission in public session. He said since the last public hearing, some of the recommendations of the Planning Commission have been incorporated. These were also discussed in an open meeting, held in Caucus by the Village of Maryville. He explained the purpose of the recodification is to update and expand the revised code of ordinances to include situations that were not thought of when the original code was developed. He said there is a copy available for inspection to the public if anyone wishes to review it. He said the changes have made the code a very well organized product. He is well pleased with it.
6:32:58 PM Gulledge Asked for comments from the public and the Board.
6:33:07 PM Bell Said that part of the recodification is to add it to the website. AmLegal has provided the Village with the URL for that link. He displayed on the screen what it looks like on the Net. It is very nice for searching for something. He said after the Board's acceptance of the recodification, he will place a link to it on the web site. This will be a useful tool to the staff, and also to developers. He agrees with the Attorney, the code is very well organized.
6:34:09 PM Gulledge Asked if anyone else had comments. There were none. He closed the hearing.

Respectfully submitted,

Thelma Long, Village Clerk
