Village of Maryville, Illinois

Description Public hearing #1 - MEPRD grant application
Date9/15/2004 Location Council Chamber
Time Speaker Note
6:30:22 PM Gulledge Called the public hearing to order, and explained the reason for the hearing is to discuss a potential Metro East Park & Recreation District (MEPRD) grant, and also the possibility of an OSLAD grant. He said the MEPRD is a 50/50 grant.  He said, as the Board has discussed at previous Caucus meetings, they are seeking grants to build a restroom on the west side of the park, that would have an addition onto the restroom facilities. Persons using the bike trail would have a place to stop for lunch, rest, and use the restroom facilities, as well as persons using the park. There will be a water fountain for adults, children, and animals. Also the park will have an additional twenty-two parking spaces along Parkview Drive and the bike trail. The estimated total is approximately $192,600.00. He said they are applying for a 50/50 grant reimbursement from the MEPRD which is $96,300.00, and also as part of the public hearing, with Board approval, he will enter into an OSLAD grant to try to get a full reimbursement, or as much of the $96,300.00 as possible that the Village will have to pay as their portion of the MEPRD grant.
6:32:54 PM Garcia Asked what the Village will be putting up.
6:33:03 PM Gulledge Answered that right now the Village will be putting up $96,300.00 of the $192,600.00.  He said they are also going to another funding agency (OSLAD) to try to get the $96,300.00 back.  He told the Board this is the same project discussed at the Caucus meeting. Nothing has changed. He said Juneau, himself, Trustee Bell, and the Park Committee are recommending this project.  He asked if anyone has any questions or comments.
6:33:30 PM Bell Commented that this project will only take place if the MEPRD grant is awarded.
6:34:00 PM Gulledge Asked if there were any other questions or comments. There being none, he closed the hearing.

Respectfully submitted,

Thelma Long, Village Clerk
