6:31:47 PM Gulledge Called the public hearing for the 2004 tax levies to order on Wednesday, December 15, 2004. There were five persons in attendance. He began by saying that copies would be available for inspection. He read the appropriated totals for each department, and the amount levied for each department, as follows: Fire Department total amount appropriated - $467,500.00, amount levied $240,500.00; Police Department total amount appropriated - $$1,121,800.00, amount levied $1,036,675.00; Administration total amount appropriated - $362,600.00, amount levied $356,471.00; Legal Department total amount appropriated - $100,000.00, amount levied $100,000.00; Buildings total amount appropriated - $521,900.00, amount levied $521,900.00; Street and Bridge total amount appropriated - $956,700.00, amount levied $670,200.00; Public Comfort total amount appropriated - $118,000.00, amount levied $80,205.00; Parks & Recreation total amount appropriated - $834,200.00, amount levied $834,200.00; Insurance total amount appropriated - $379,000.00, amount levied $291,946.00; Cemetery total amount appropriated - $87,500.00, amount levied $87,500.00; Health Department total amount appropriated - $52,800.00, amount levied $52,800.00; Social Security total amount appropriated - $125,000.00, amount levied $35,000.00; Municipal Retirement Fund total amount appropriated - $225,000.00, amount levied $135,000.00; Street Lighting total amount appropriated - $50,000.00 , amount levied $0.00; Building & Zoning total amount appropriated - $152,300.00, amount levied $152,300.00; Economic Development & Tourism total amount appropriated - $28,800.00, amount levied $28,800.00; Contingencies total amount appropriated - $150,000.00, amount levied $93,250.00. The total amount levied as itemized in sections 1-1 thru 1-17 is $4,716,747.00.
6:35:33 PM Wigginton Arrived and was seated. He took over the reading of the levy. He said the total amount levied in section one is $237,500.00. Section two, which is Fire Protection is $227,000.00. Section three which is Police Protection is $85,125.00. Section four, Street & Bridge is $113,500.00. Section five, Street Lighting is $56,750.00. Section six, Liability and Workers' Compensation Insurance is $82,174.00. Section seven, Unemployment Insurance is $4,880.00. Section eight, Annual Audit of the Financial Operations is $6,129.00. Section nine, Public Comfort Stations is $37,795.00. Section ten Working Cash Fund is $56,750.00. Section eleven, Federal Social Security Fund is $90,000.00. Section twelve, Municipal Retirement Fund is $90,000.00. Section thirteen, Police Pension Fund is $42,449.00. Section fourteen, Firefighters' Pension Fund is $12,145.00. This is the total levy for May 1, 2004 through April 30, 2005.
6:38:36 PM Wigginton Said there are two other levies. They are annual levies for Special Service areas. He read the annual levy beginning May 1, 2004 and ending April 30, 2005 for SSA #1, which was created in 1990. The levy amount for SSA #1 is $18,000.00. The total amount levied for SSA #3 beginning May 1, 2004 and ending April 30, 2005 is $19,821.00. He said they will also be abating certain taxes, which is done annually relating to certain general obligation and alternative revenue source bonds. There will be three abatement ordinances for consideration tonight. He noted for the record that a notice of publication of this public hearing was made in the Troy Times Tribune by the Clerk. Notice was also given to the public at prior public hearings.
6:40:04 PM Gulledge Opened the hearing to the public for questions or comments. There were none.
